Sunset

This picture is a photomontage of two quite unsuccessful shots taken some time back. Picture 1 is the background of the sky, which was actually taken through the window of a restaurant on the 60th storey. Picture 2 is a shot taken for my cousins.

Post-processing process:
Duplicate original photo and blend it as soft light, adjusted the first level and curve to darken photo, adjusted second level to lighten photo, crop out the couples from another picture to make it into a silhouette. The orange and black area had been burn with history brush to remove the reflections on the glass, the blue and white area of the sky had been lighten and brighten with the dodge tool.

Comment it. I'm listening. :)

taken: 4/1/2006
camera: Canon PowerShot S2 IS (Prosumer camera)
aperture: f/8
exposure compensation: 0 step
metering: pattern
flash: not fired
image quality: JPEG
cropping: minor cropping

You should use a noise reduction program, the upper right corner of your sky could be seriously better ;)

Perhaps you could have a look to Picture cooler, there seems to be a free version but i don't know the limitation compared to the commercial one that is only 15$.

Cheers !

Thanks Julien, I've downloaded it trying to figure out how it works. Seems pretty easy but I haven't seen the difference in the reduction of noise yet.

I don't mind the noise ... on the contrary, it's like a personal signature to identify your photos . Impressive sky and the silhouettes make the finishing touch . Well done !
